British Values

Whilst we are a Church of England school, we are also an inclusive school and regard people of all faiths, races and cultures with respect and tolerance.  We promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of our pupils and challenge opinions or behaviours that are contrary to fundamental British Values.

We acknowledge that we live in a multi-faith society and celebrate the common virtue that is universally respected across all world religions. This simple moral principle underpins our school’s Christian values.

Please click on the document below to find out how we promote British Values in our school.

Spiritual Moral, Social and Cultural education (SMSC)

Our curriculum has been carefully planned to address and ensure coverage of the following areas:-

Spiritual education for example:-

Pupils are encouraged to be reflective about their own beliefs, religious or otherwise, that inform their perspective on life and their interest in, and respect for, different people’s faiths, feelings and values.

Moral education for example:-

Pupils are very involved in exploring and understanding the consequences of behaviour and actions.

Social education for example:-

Pupils apply of a range of social skills in different contexts, including working and socialising with pupils from different religious, ethnic and socio-economic backgrounds.

Cultural education for example:-

Pupils are provided with an understanding and appreciation of the range of different cultures within school and further afield as an essential element of their preparation for life in modern Britain.
